SOCIALIZED FUNERALS?

I would like to see a public option for funeral service. I'd say the disposal of bodies is a pretty reasonable thing to have your government do, like building highways and running the Coast Guard. You call the agency, and they pick up the corpse, with which they may dispose any way they want, starting with harvesting all the usable parts, and making them available at cost to everybody in our public option hospitals, or just grinding it to meat paste for livestock feed.

You want churchy stuff, or "honorable treatment" or any of that, YOU PAY FOR IT, from any business which will give you what you want, from a platinum sarcophagus to a Viking pyre, or just getting laid out in a hole. Would such “natural burial” be irresponsibly dangerous to the environment or to public safety? No. We bury horses that way don't we? It is God’s way of naturally dealing with the matter, isn’t it? That mandatory embalming and canning business to protect us from the dead is just the usual fear tactic used to grant power and privilege to certain "service providers" whose business we are obligated to patronize.

Personally, I would like to be freeze dried, and so mummified, stood up in a corner somewhere the kids can put silly hats on me.
